RADE: THE INHERITANCE is a real-world narrative mystery game set in and around Toronto’s Exhibition Place, blending urban exploration, family drama, and location-based puzzle design. In 1974, influential Toronto developer Harold Whitmore dies, leaving behind a controversial and fragmented will. Instead of dividing his fortune normally, he forces an impossible condition: his 14 grandchildren must reunite to unlock a family vault. But the Whitmore family has long been fractured by greed, lawsuits, and personal betrayal. In the aftermath of Harold’s death, the family collapses completely, and the vault code is split, lost, and scattered across time. Decades later, players enter the story as investigators uncovering a forgotten inheritance case. They begin retracing the lives of the 14 heirs—each of whom was tied to a specific location in Exhibition Place and surrounding Toronto landmarks. Every location reveals: a fragment of the vault code, a personal story of one grandchild, and a clue pointing to the next destination. As players move through the city, they uncover a layered history of Toronto itself—its waterfront transformation, industrial development, cultural venues, and hidden infrastructure beneath modern highways and public spaces.
